Hollywood...Here I Come!!!

Hello bloggy friends!
Please head over to my NEW blog and follow me over there.  This blog will no longer be updated or checked for comments!

In preparation for my new theme for next year, I have created a few documents that I am getting ready to print at school.  I know, I know...I should be enjoying the summer days instead of wasting away at my computer.  I just can't help myself.  I am moving to a new room next year and I can't completely wrap my head around where everything is going to go.  Sooooo...I thought that I could use this time to get things done that I KNOW I am going to use!

Here is a sneak peek to coming up goodies!

Lead Actor/Supporting Actor (Helper of the Day)
Those of you that follow me know that I like to have ONE helper-of-the-day instead of classroom jobs.  This person helps me with EVERYTHING!  They LOVE LOVE LOVE it!  After they become the helper of the day, then they move to the bottom two slots before they get put on "vacation."  This year, with my Hollywood theme, I am having a Lead Actor and the two bottom helpers will be called Supporting Actors!  This is what their name plate will look like when I pull them out of the envelope!  More coming soon...

Box-Office Behavior:
As you know, I LOVE the Clip Chart by Rick Morrisson.  I have used it for two years and won't look back!  It is amazing.  I wanted to spice it up, so I made it match my Hollywood Theme this year.  I got the original idea from a fellow blogger-please let me know if it is you so I can give you proper credit...I just saved your picture.  I adjusted it to fit my needs.  I only have the headings done, but can't wait to show you the finished product when I have it!  For now, this is what you get:

Please click on the picture to download them if you would like.  I don't know if I like the "Think about it" choice yet.  I wanted to do "Take 5" but then the clip art would have been the same for Parent Contact.  OCD coming out in me wouldn't allow it.  Please help with suggestions!

Box-Office Report
The component that I think helps the MOST with our clip chart is our parent communication.  They get to see where our students end up at the end of a day and they really do back it up!  THAT is why it works so well-THANKS PARENTS!!!
Here is the report that goes in their STAR Binders:

Star Binder:
Of course, many of you use these binders as communication with parents.  Here is what I will be putting in the front Binder!
And Last, but not least...another great idea by a fellow blogger...Homeworkopoly.  This is my first time using this and I am still reading up on how to make it operate, but I am getting into the swing of things and at least getting my document ready to print so I can laminate.  My inspiration came from Ladybug's Teacher Files.  Please see her original document.  She was sooooo sweet and even told me what fonts she used.  They are now my favorite fonts to use!!!  LOVE them!  If you haven't used smiley monster and Elephants in Cherry Trees together, they are a MUST!  I pretty much kept everything the same, just tweaked a few things!

  2. I love your ideas! I am moving from first grade for the past 11 years... up to 2nd and think the updated behavior chart would be great. I used the rainbow clip chart last year... I am not able to look at the "box office" report through google docs...would you mind reposting or emailing to me?
    Thank you so much!

  3. Becca,
Rick Morrison doesn't have clip art, that I know of. He does have a clip CHART that you can google! Easy to find!

I hope that helps! I just make my own levels for his clip chart using clip art from ThistleGirl Designs!

  4. Love this! I am looping with my class up to first grade and trying to decide on a theme. I can't choose between Hollywood,Camping and Western! haha Any tips? I need someone to just choose for me. lol Which Thistlegirl graphics pack is the best overall for making classroom signs/forms(if I could just get one)? I want to purchase some sort of cute graphics pack at a decent price and have been looking at Thistlegirl and DJInkers. Thanks so much!! :-)

  5. A.B.N Mitchell,
Heehee-you sound like me! It is soooo hard to choose. I had planned on doing a Western Theme NEXT year (after my Hollywood) but I think I am doing a military/american theme because my oldest daughter needed decorations for a dance camp and we had to buy a ton of things for that. So, my mind is NEVER made up!

  6. I'm so glad I found your blog. You've truly inspired me. I was just hired as a second grade teacher after working as a late hire first grade teacher last year. I'm really looking forward to starting my year with my own class from Day 1. I tried looking at your ticket color key page and it won't open in google docs. Has anyone else reported issues? I love your theme!

  13. Love your Hollywood stuff. I also have a Hollywood theme and my behavior saying for the clip chart and behavior report are pretty similiar to what I already do,but you came up with some better sayings than I did. I used to do Homeworkopoly but never got around to making a Hollywood one. So thanks for the inspiration. I just might have to do that this year. Thanks for sharing.

  14. I really liked your Hollywood items. Is there a way to get an ediatable copy of your Box Office Reports? I would even pay for it as I know you put a lot of work into it. But it is so adorable and I have no idea how to make one myself. I tried to email you and cannot seem to do it. Would you be able to send it to tbelle1@cox.com? I would be so appreciative :)

  15. I am with t belle 1...could I have an editable copy of the homeworkopoly? I am doing a "Broadway" theme, so most everything works, I just need to make it Broadway instead of Hollywood!

  17. Tbelle...I tried e-mailing you, but it bounced back to me as undeliverable. Sorry!

Julie...I would pass that along, but I did a LOT of manipulating in word and it won't transfer over correctly (I have tried sending it to a teacher friend-sorry) Are there certain things that I can just change for you and pass it along as a pdf? Just let me know!

Debra...E-mail was sent to you just a few min. ago! Enjoy ;o)

  20. Becca,
If you would be willing to change Welcome to Hollywood to Broadway or any of the other spots that may say Hollywood to Broadway that would be fantastic. If you don't have the time, I totally understand. Also...I know that I have this in my files, but do you have a good explanation of how to use the homeworkopoly? That would be fantastic.

Thanks for sharing all of your hard work.

  21. I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only teacher that can't keep herself away from "school-mode" during the summer! lol This was the theme I used last year-your ideas are adorable!Gotta luv Thistlegirl!!! One of the things that I did was make a "Super Star" autograph board for each student with their picture in the center of a star and then glued that in the center of a small poster board. When it was his/her turn to be star student, I had the rest of the class sign the poster and then sent it home. The kiddos absolutely loved this!!!

I'm teaching 2nd grade -- and have LOVED your blog:) I'm excited for your new adventures in 3rd grade. Can't wait to follow the new blog! Also -- would you mind emailing me your ticket page and STAR binder form? Thanks so much for your hard work and sharing:) Finally -- do you have a system for recording the students behavior for yourself? At our district we have to keep daily documentation of student data, and I was wondering if you had already solved this problem:) Here's my address: kjacobs@usd263.org.

  32. Hi! I am doing a Hollywood theme for the next school year coming up. I am going to be teaching Kindergarten though and was wondering if you thought the behavior chart would still be appropriate for Kinder? For the student tags that you use for the lead actor and so forth...what program did you use to create it? Lastly, I was wondering where you got the patterns for all the different movie people you have on your bulletin boards...a teacher I work with has a bunch of those type of characters. I would love to make my own.

I have used HOMEWORKOPOLY in the past school year with my 4th graders and they loved it and did their homework. I also LOVE your STAR binder cover and was wondering if I may get a copy of it from you with 4th grade on it? I tried to change it after I saved it to my computer and was unable to do so. I would greatly appreciate it! My email is amberlbarnes@gmail.com! Thanks! Amber =)
